Metals

Metals

Students are creating a sculptural wearable piece, based on the position and movement of the human body, as well as aesthetics and functionality.

The design is  based on a repetitive element, the cylinder, and the different types of soldering seems the students had learned in class. By putting together the design, they learn to bend metal, fabricate the piece and to work with mechanisms.

Following the rules of Kirigami, the students cut their designs on metal instead of paper. They experiment with spatial form, improve their  sawing and piercing skills, and lean different ways to bend metal.
